About Shirley
A successful R.N. for over 20 years, Shirley Gorman decided in 2007 to offer her skills to an entirely different cause - the law.
Having earned an Associates Degree in Nursing in 1990, Ms. Gorman worked in oncology units from the beginning of her career. Specializing in cancer treatment as her career continued, she became a certified Oncology Nurse in 1993 and has worked with leading MDs at cancer centers since then. Involved with the latest drug trials in which she administered experimental chemotherapy protocols during the study periods, she has become an expert in chemotherapy administration, drug interaction and reaction, IV infusion, and all forms of peripheral and central IV devices.
Inspired by other Certified Legal Nurse Consultants, Ms. Gorman became aware of how her skills in the medical field and in quality assurance activities could be beneficial in legal matters. Consulting legal nurse services and forensic nursing, she found, could help in cases of insurance fraud, wrongful death and standards of care, and in plaintiff and defense case-building. Providing Independent Medical Exam services could also aid many legal cases. In 2007 she completed certification at the Vicki Milazzo Institute, and began work as a CLNC.
Shirley Gorman is now a well-respected CLNC in Northern Colorado. She was appointed to Chairperson on the Crime Victim Compensation Board for Larimer County, Colorado by the District Attorney, serving as the board's medical expert. She provides consulting legal nurse services to law firms, insurance agencies, individuals and organizations all over Colorado as well as in Wyoming and other western states.
Affiliations
Shirley Gorman is a member of the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants. She is also a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, the American Nurses Association (ANA), Colorado Nurses Association (CNA) and the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
Cost of Services
Shirley Gorman, CLNC, offers all potential clients a free consultation.
After that, she bills on a fair hourly basis and gives a likely estimate of how long the project should take to complete.
Certainly the rates for a consulting legal nurse service are comparable to what most professionals would charge, but they are very likely to be considerably lower than the rates of the law firm's senior... or even junior... counsel. So it makes sense to hire a consulting legal nurse specialist. It will consistently save you discovery time, prevent errors and avoid dead ends... or even prevent a decision going against your client!
